Bee Pollen is a complete super-food, providing every vitamin, mineral and nutrient our body needs to survive. In fact, it has been postulated that it would be possible to survive off bee pollen alone as long as we had water and fibre as well.
Bee pollen contains a wide spectrum of nutrients to help maintain good health. These include all vitamins of the B-complex and vitamin C. Since these are water soluble, they can be taken daily.
Bee pollen also contains vitamins D, E, K, and Beta Carotene (vitamin A), plus numerous minerals, enzymes and coenzymes, plant-source fatty acids, carbohydrates, proteins, and 22 amino acids – including all eight “essential” amino acids that the body cannot manufacture for itself.
Bee Pollen is approximately 40% protein, which is a higher protein content than any other animal source. It contains more amino acids than beef, eggs and cheese of equal weight.
It is considered one of nature’s most completely nourishing foods. It contains nearly all nutrients required by humans. About half of its protein is in the form of free amino acids that are ready to be used directly by the body. Such highly assimilable protein can contribute significantly to one’s protein needs.
What exactly IS Bee Pollen and how is it made?
Bee Pollen is NOT just any old pollen: it has a special enzymes and ingredients added by the honeybees who collect it, which are the secret to its miraculous properties.
Each Honeybee gathers pollen from flowers and attaches it to “baskets” on her legs. The bee pollen is a fine dust and impossible to carry easily, so she moistens it with enzymes from her saliva, and moulds the powder into a golden granule on each leg, as seen in this photo:
Beekeepers use a narrow opening to the bees’ hive, which forces the pollen granule to fall out of the bee’s carrying basket and into a collection basket for human use.
This video shows how it works, although this beekeeper is NOT an employee of Forever Living.
One of the most interesting facts about bee pollen is that it cannot be synthesized in a laboratory. Researchers produced man-made “pollen” in a laboratory, using all the known nutrients from Bee Pollen. However, when they fed the man-made pollen to bees and took away their natural pollen, the bees died!
Many thousands of chemical analyses of bee pollen have been made with the very latest diagnostic equipment, but there are still some elements present in bee pollen that science cannot identify. The bees add some mysterious “extra” of their own.
These unidentifiable elements may very well be the reason bee pollen has such miraculous properties.
It is important to recognize that a one teaspoon dose of pollen takes one bee working eight hours a day for one month to gather. Each bee pollen pelletcontains over two million flower pollen grains and one teaspoonful contains over 2.5 billion grains of flower pollen.
